New data from the Commerce Department released today notes that retail sales decreased in June for the second straight month, marking the third decline this year. This drop in sales accounts for department stores, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and gas stations. While Americans’ confidence in the economy spiked after the presidential election, it has since cooled off. However, unemployment is still low and jobs and wages are still growing, albeit slowly.
